Iron Man is 4!

It is hard to believe that my "baby" was 4 on Sunday.  He tells me that even though we have a new baby he will always be my baby.  I'll remind him of that in a few years.  We celebrated his birthday the entire week before.
On Tuesday, Chick Fil A had their birthday club party and that meant a free kids meal for Ben.  We went there and played on the play ground and had some free ice cream.  On Thursday, Benji and I picked him up from school and went to the park for some outdoor fun.  We all went to Wades for dinner and the wait staff sang Happy Birthday to Ben and he got more free ice cream.  His party was on Saturday at the Camp Croft fire department.  It was a big hit.  We had more celebrating on Sunday down at his Big B's and Nana's since that was his actual birthday.

At the park.  He was only still long enough for this pose!

By this time, Reese had been drinking too much to enjoy the festivities!

April 19

was supposed to be Reese's official birthday.  Technically she was due on Apri 27, but the c-section was scheduled for the 19th.  So instead of having a freshly born baby, I have an ever growing 5 week old.  We love you so much Reese.

She is starting to fill out (in??) the car seat.  She does not like it, but at least she looks more comfortable.

Waiting on June

Here are the latest pictures of the house construction.  It is coming right along, with them finishing up the drywall this weekend.  Latest word is that we should get to move in by mid June, not that I have been waiting forever and growing impatient or anything.  Seriously, we are not busting out of the condo.  Here are some pictures made today, 04/18/2010.

Happy 4 weeks Reese

Well, life is just flying by.  Reese is 4 weeks old today, 2 days from being a whole month old!!!
Some interesting tidbits about the Misses.

  • As of last Wednesday, April 7, 2010, Reese weighed 6 pounds and 8.5 ounces.
  • She was diagnosed on that date as having Reflux and was prescribed Zantac.  I took to the dr because of congestion.  I then self diagnosed her and took her off Neo Sure (the preemie formula) and put her back on the regular.  She has been totally different and much better since.
  • She is steadily practicing for future swim meets.  She loves to push off your legs or hands with her feet.  If she is laying down, she is in constant motion
  • She is totally involved in conversations, knowing they mostly are about her.  If she is laying on one side, she will pick her head up and move it to the other side, almost as to say "Here is my opinion"
  • She loves to beheld and loved on.  She loves you to hold her up on your chest and she gets in that frog position and is fast asleep.  Except, between 2-4 am, when she loves to be awake.
  • She has officially learned how to grip long hair.
  • She is still mostly drinking 2 ounces, but sometimes more
  • She is a Pampers kind of girl.
  • Her big brother is smitten with her, along with the rest of us.
  • She is a total joy!!

Ben

Even as busy as we have been, Ben has been a real trooper.  I was lucky enough to be out with him all last week.  He loved spending time with his sister, even though we could not go anywhere.  We have to wait until Reese is a little older and bigger to take her to large crowds. On a last minute whim,  One day we did take Ben to the Children's Museum in Greenville.  He really liked it.  The only thing was that I was disppointed that adults were charged the same admission price as the kids.  $36.00 for the 3 of us was a little steep, but I guess it was worth it if he liked it.
Ben was great at the museum and after seeing so many other kids, made me even more proud that he really is so good.

Happy 2 weeks!

By Reese's second week, she was drinking 2 ounces every 3 hours.  Doctors told us that because of her size, we would need to make sure we woke her up every 3 hours to eat.
She is a great baby.  Since she is a preemie, she mostly sleeps, but this week started spending some extra time awake.  She especially loved the time between 1-3 a.m. where she was fully awake and studying the world around her.  She also started lifting her head and following people's voices this week.  She laughs, outloud, probably thinking she has the loudest and craziest family ever.
Ben is totally in love with her, but wants her to be able to be more mobile and play with him.  I informed him that time will come way too soon and he will be ready for her to leave him a lot.
Overall, she is a total joy and delight and a fabulous final addition to our family.  We are totally in love with her and she seems pretty pleased with us, as well.

Happy 1 week!

By 1 week, Reese was taking between .5 and 1 oz of formula every 2 hours.  She lost 1 oz in the hospital and was 4.15 at her first dr appointment on 03/18/2010.  Dr Surqa examined Reese in the hospital and come to find out he and Benji graduated high school together.  He is new to the practice and I really like him.
